Roots of Peace Project – college start-ups
Objective: To train and mentor college start-ups who want to start a social enterprise in selling
organic black pepper and organic black coffee to Chinese consumers in an innovative approach.
Target Audience: Limit to 50, 20 Overseas participants and 30 Chinese participants
Methodology: Using lean start-ups and design thinking approach to let the aspiring entrepreneurs know
about how to start a business
Facilitator: Irmeli, expert in “Lean Service Creation”, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences
Host: Jointly organized by NHCHealth International Innovation Center and Haaga-Helia Research and
Development Innovation Center
Partners: HuqQiao Foundation, Roots of Peace, United Earths, Selected Universities and a few NGOs
Funding: The Chinese government will grants the college start-ups at RMB 50,000 per student to
encourage them to become entrepreneurs. There are other resources they can approach later on once they
set up the social enterprises.
Social Cause: We train Chinese graduates using the “lean service creation” program and help them to
become entrepreneurs in the field they are interested. We will create an eco-system in
entrepreneurship spirits among international start-ups and some of them might do social enterprises
for the good of society.
